Evil Genius Wiki

Smarts is one of the five character stats in Evil Genius, as well as one of the three Minion stats in the sequel.

Overview[]

Evil Genius[]

This stat determines their cleverness. Minions with low smarts are more likely to get caught by Traps. If they are drained to zero, they will become incapacitated, scratching their heads stupidly for a while. When an Agent reaches zero, he will forget what he has seen and lose all heat.

Minions can replenish smarts by by visiting the Archives and using the material there. Certain loot objects also have smarts-boosting auras.

The Evil Genius cannot lose smarts like lesser mortals, as he or she is a genius.

Evil Genius 2[]

In the sequel, Smarts is one of the 3 stats shared by Minions, Henchmen, and the Evil Genius
This stat determines a character's ability to do tasks that require smarts. When a character’s smarts stat reaches zero, they will be unable to continue and will roam around in daze until another minion takes care of them.
It is important to note that there are two tiers of smarts:

  • Tier one: Smarts stat of 0 to 50
  • Tier two: Smarts stat of 51 to 100

Minions[]

Minions can regain lost smarts in a few ways.
The tier one smarts stat can be restored in two rooms, the Mess Hall, and the Archive. Using any of the Mess Hall tables and using the Archive Re-Education Chair will restore smarts up to 50. This applies to any minion.

For smarts to increase above 50 you first need to complete the prerequisite research and make the the following machines available in your Archives.

  • Muscle Minions : Using the Multimedia Education
  • Deception Minions : Using the Learning Lamp
  • Science Minions : Using the Brainiac Machine
  • Worker Minions : Using the Basic Training: Evil 101

Minions will lose smarts performing the following jobs and while training:

  • Muscle Minions : While using Guard Posts and operating Security Stations.
  • Deception Minions : Operating any Casino items that targets Agents' Skill (Roulette, Blackjack, etc).
  • Science Minions : Operating any of the smarts boosting machines. Operating any control room equipment set to science only (i.e., generating Intel). Researching and Repairing.
  • Worker Minions : Manning control room equipment.
  • Technicians : They lose smarts on their way to repair for some strange reason and while repairing

Henchmen[]

For Henchmen and the Evil Genius, the smarts stats acts like a mana pool to use their special abilities, and doesn't decrease on it's own.
Henchmen can only regain lost smarts using the conference table (except for the converted super agents which have their own stat recovery upgrades, while the Evil Genius can regain his/her own smarts points by sitting either in their chair or at the conference table in their Inner Sanctum.
